Truck Trash Tuesday #1

Here is the first entry of Truck Trash Tuesday.

I was walking home from the train the other night and passed by my truck. I stopped to look in the back to see if any trash needed to be removed. Someone had apparently gotten some Chinese food for take-out and decided they no longer wanted it. They also seemingly enjoyed some OJ whilst eating said Chinese food.

A Couple of Umbrellas and an Update

Hi there. We have had some rain in NYC recently, and you know what that means. Yes, more pictures of umbrellas.

First, we have this trashed piece. I found this near the trash cans outside my building. I don't know if it was intentionally dropped near the trash, or if this was just a fortuitous discarding of an umbrella.

Second, we have this beauty captured by my lovely wife. It seems as though someone noticed the busted up roses on the ground and decided to add to the pile with their own umbrella rose. Quite a solid example and almost artistic in its placement.

As an update, I will be adding a new feature on Tuesdays, called Truck Trash Tuesdays. To give some background, I drive a large-ish pickup truck in NYC. I owned the truck in Texas (where it was considered normal size) and refused to give it up when we moved. Now people have decided that my truckbed is the perfect place to discard their unwanted items. Highlights from the past, of which I have no pictures, include: Condoms (both used and unused,) plastic medical gloves (on a regular basis,) and a half empty bottle of Hennessy (I did not partake in the leftovers.) I promise this will be interesting.

Welcome!

A good friend of mine who used to live in NYC had an idea to take pictures of all of the abandoned umbrellas on the streets of NYC. After the rain that we have had the last few days, I thought it would be appropriate to bring this to life. Behold, the first of many Umbrellas of New York.

This specimen was located near my house in an area where people like to dump trash. This one has been here for some time, as it has collected some trash friends.

This lonely creature was found underneath the J train near the Kosciusko stop. It seems to have been dismembered before being discarded.

This handsome umbrella was placed neatly by a parking meter near 39th and Madison. Perhaps it wasn't discarded, but forgotten about when someone was paying for their parking.
